It is indeed the single best thing. And presentation definitely captures the interest and hopefully motivate enough of us. A Doctor-Professor answers the old question "What is the single best thing we can do for our health" in a completely new way.

Spice Rack Plano : Is it worth the hassle?

I have been to Spice Rack Plano (2865 McDermott Rd # 105, Plano, TX 75025), quite a few times so far. And every time I visit, I will ponder over the same question, is it worth the hassle to go here? Short answer is, Yes. At least for now. Spice Rack is an Indian Grocery Store + fast food center. A medium to larger grocery store in size with a surprisingly larger kitchen.  On most occasions I see more crowd at the fast food kitchen than in the grocery area. May be that would explain the larger size kitchen. And you can get most of Indian groceries, vegetables and meat (chicken and goat) as well. On many occasions I found that groceries are relatively expensive here, so, unless some thing is essential and got no time, I won’t buy here. Having said that, almost all my visits to Spick Rack can be attributed to the fast food Kitchen. Its more or less close to South Indian cuisine despite the presence of varieties of national and global interest. And you get a wide variety of it....

Dehydration : How an Indian Doctor Treat, if you can Pay

Image
This is a real story of a horrific experience with an Indian Doctor that just got creative. Declared an Emergency to be admitted as in-Patient at once, a real emergency condition that was not even worth delaying his lunch break, if not admitted in their hospital.  And got too concerned about your health and took every extra precaution he has ever known, in your best interest, when he knew that you could pay up.  Thanks to Sujatha Hospitals, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. One of my family members got dehydrated (we didn’t know initially it was dehydration).  As the Family doctor wasn’t available at that moment to answer our questions, based on symptoms, we went to see a doctor at a near by hospital. After basic vital checks and learning that patient recently travelled to USA, the doctor told us that the condition was serious and patient must be admitted immediately and to be given fluids by IV at once, and also prescribed 4 more injections (3 of which were to be admini...

Piano Stairs : Making Better Choices Fun

Perception is everything. Marketers use this concept all the time, quite cleverly, to manipulate our behavior one way or the other.  Many times, not so in the best interests of consumers. Here is an example of the very concepts that influence our behavior. This time, though, it will be in the best interest of our health. In choosing a staircase rather than an escalator. This is awesome. We believe that the easiest way to change people's behavior for the better is by making it fun to do. We call it The fun theory. http://www.thefuntheory.com I wish we could come up with similar ideas to change our attitude towards eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Check out other ideas submitted for The Fun Theory Award by users at TheFunTheory.com .

Healthcare Plan : If Majority is what all matters in Democracy ..

Image
If majority is what all matters in democracy (getting 60 votes gives approval to the healthcare bill against opposition by 39) what about 51% of people opposing the bill (while only 38.4% favor it)? In a broader sense, what does this mean to the concept of democracy? The elected officials that are supposed to represent the people are going against the wishes of the same people that elected them in the first place. Source: Real Clear Politics

Tobacco Kills 400,000 Americans Each Year : How Come Govt. Sell Licenses To Kill Its Own People?

If Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death in United States and 400,000 people die from it each year, why not ban it completely? It doesn’t make any sense.  How come US Government (and governments across the world) sell licenses to kill 400,000 of its own country men and women each year?   You know, the legislation I'm signing today represents change that's been decades in the making. Since at least the middle of the last century, we've known about the harmful and often deadly effects of tobacco products. More than 400,000 Americans now die of tobacco-related illnesses each year, making it the leading cause of preventable death in the United States . More than 8 million Americans suffer from at least one serious illness caused by smoking. And these health problems cost us all more than $100 billion a year. -- President Barack Obama (At the signing of Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, 22nd June 2009) ( Link ) Whose interest it i...
