Steve Jobs, back in the day, telling us how simple brands really need to be.

You need a lot of passion for what you're doing because its so hard. Without passion, any rational person would give up. So if youre not having fun doing it, if you dont absolutely love it, youre going to give up. And thats what happens to most people, actually. If you look at the ones that ended up being successful in the eyes of society, often times its the ones who love what they do, so they could persevere when it got really tough. And the ones that didnt love it, quit. Because theyre sane, right? Who would put up with this stuff if you dont love it? So its a lot of hard work and its a lot of worrying constantly. If you dont love it, youre going to fail.

In today's Apple Special event , the CEO showed a nice graph of iPod cumulative sales and mentioned that Apple sold more than 300 Million units. It is an amazing number in itself. But what caught my eye is the graph showing the cumulative growth itself. Wondering why it took so long, until 2005 to gain momentum. And what was that pivotal moment in 2005 that changed the whole scene for iPods. Cumulative iPod Sales If you remember, the iPod was introduced in 2001 and iTunes was introduced in 2003. But if you look at the graph, it took off around 2005, almost 4 years later after it was first introduced. What happened? What was that some thing amazing happened around 2005 that turned the tide in favor of iPods ?  And here is another important question, why 'cumulative' graph was included in the presentation instead of year on year growth?  It's much easier to guess that, I think. For most of the day during and after today's iPhone event at Apple, we could barely access their web site consistently. Glad its back now. Not only full web site is accessible, but also the streaming video of today's event is now available for us to watch. Watch Apple's 4th October "Let's Talk iPhone" event here .

Finally here is a Blogger application on iOS devices. Primarily its an iPhone (iPod) application but can be run on iPad as well. Google announced the app on the blog and you can download the app from the App Store .  Read more about the announcement and features here :  Blogger Buzz: Announcing the Blogger app for iOS .  Here are a couple of quick screenshots from iPhone using the Blogger app. List of Posts Composer Screen Glad, they made it compatible with all iOS devices by making it compatible on iOS 3.2+. The work flow is smooth and intuitive to work with. However, the composer doesn't support rich text, so you will see all HTML markup when you are trying to update an existing post. But big deal for me is it makes life lot easier now to post pictures directly to Blogger blog. Emailing a picture wasn't working as Blogger has difficulty in parsing images embedded in emails.

It’s a great news in many aspects, that Google is buying Motorola, the pioneer of Mobile handsets for $12.5 Billion dollars. Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) and Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: MMI) today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Google will acquire Motorola Mobility for $40.00 per share in cash, or a total of about $12.5 billion, a premium of 63% to the closing price of Motorola Mobility shares on Friday, August 12, 2011. The transaction was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies. The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. If it had been successful some how right then, imagine what 15 years of iterations and evolution could have done to the whole tablet market. Glad at least, Apple made it real this time. 

Adobe released a preview edition of Adobe Edge, a Motion and Interaction Design tool that generates output NOT in Flash but in HTML5, JavaScript and CSS. Yes, they are really available now. Yesterday I found an Apple Web Page that announced the availability of these Videos but none of us could access them even after signing in as registered Developers. And after a few minutes, Apple appear to have pulled out the web page itself.  Well, the wait is over. Finally, they are here. WWDC 2011 Session Videos are now available for all.  Really. Enjoy.

This is the picture of an Amazon Kindle, I enjoyed for a really very short time before returning it today. May be a remarkable gadget on its own and may have been the most popular product on Amazon, but I found in a short amount of time I held it in my hands that its not for me. After spending a significant amount of time on my first generation iPad, Amazon Kindle felt like a feather, almost weight less. Give it to contrast theory.  But that was the only thing I really liked it. It is much smaller than it looks. Its Paper like screen, crisp font and little keyboard are nice but nothing impressive. I normally don’t go to a beach or sit in the backyard and read books in broad day light. I wish I could. But with a toddler in the family, only time you get to skim through a book is once kids go to bed. So, ability to read in a broad day light isn’t a feature for me.
